Learn about the Broomfield Police Department’s (BPD) community listening tour by reading below. Keep an eye out for the engagement summary later in 2025 sharing community feedback and next steps!

Project Overview

In 2024, the BPD launched a community-wide listening tour to understand what the department is doing well, what can be improved and how community members want to engage with the police. The engagement consisted of three parts: an online community-wide survey, in-person community listening sessions and a business feedback form.

At the listening sessions, community members had the opportunity to share their honest feedback, experiences and ideas for interacting with police through hands-on activities and small group discussions. Broomfield Police officers who were present at the sessions listened to community members in their role as table discussion hosts and poster facilitators. In total, the BPD conducted eight community listening sessions with both the general public and specific audiences such as teens, Spanish speakers and detention center inmates.

In early 2025, the BPD will be reviewing the feedback collected and identifying next steps to strengthen engagement with the Broomfield community. A final report will be released later this year.

Public Engagement

Residents participated in the listening tour in a variety of ways:

  • Completing the Impressions of the Broomfield Police survey between December 2023 and March 2024
  • Attending one of eight community listening sessions between May and December 2024
  • Business owners and employees completed the Business Feedback Form between November 2024 and January 2025

You can read a recap of the listening sessions under the “News feed” tab below. If you have any questions about the engagement, you can ask them under the “Questions” tab below. A report summarizing community feedback and BPD recommendations will be released later in 2025.
