The City and County of Broomfield and Design Concepts successfully collaborated to complete the Midway Park Master Plan. Due to the planned realignment of City Park Channel within Midway Park, the implementation of most items outlined in the master plan will be deferred until after the completion of this construction project. Those interested in reviewing the final master plan are encouraged to contact Broomfield's Capital Improvements Division for a copy.

Project Background

The City and County of Broomfield is developing a new master plan for Midway Park. This project is an exciting opportunity for Broomfield residents to participate in upgrading the vision for this community space as well as incorporate the ongoing projects in and around the park into one master plan. The goal of this project is to evaluate existing amenities and identify desired amenities that can be incorporated into the park through future capital improvement program (CIP) projects. This project aims to ensure that this iconic park continues to be a vibrant gathering space for Broomfield community members of all ages, abilities and interests.

Public Outreach

At various points throughout the project, The City and County of Broomfield will request engagement from the public to understand what residents value about the existing park and what they would like to see changed. Opportunities for input include several online community surveys and an in-person All Community Meeting (see additional information below).

In addition to providing stand alone recommendations, the Midway Park Master Plan project will also incorporate information and guidance from several other projects currently underway within and near the park including:

Site History

Midway Park is located along West Midway Boulevard, directly east of US Highway 287. In its approximately 27 acres, the park features a baseball field, basketball court, disc golf course, picnic shelter and tables, two playgrounds, restrooms, a pond, open fields and trails. Midway Park was written into the initial architectural plans for the planned suburban community of Broomfield Heights, which welcomed its first residents in 1955. It was intended to be a large community park that connected the 'First Filing' neighborhood (south of Midway Blvd.) to the 'Second Filing' neighborhood (north of Midway Blvd.). The Girl Scout Shelter located directly north of Midway Boulevard was originally built in the 1960s. As one of Broomfield's original parks, Midway Park serves as an important gateway into the City and is the site of Broomfield's largest annual event, Broomfield Days, which is held on the third weekend in September each year.

The Midway Park Master Plan kicked off in April 2022, and over 500 people visited the Broomfield Voice to provide input on the master plan survey. Additionally, more than 30 people attended the project's public open house in May. In June, Staff shared project information and public feedback with the Parks, Recreation, and Senior Services Advisory Committee. Community members are invited to participate in the next phase of the project by providing input on the draft master plan through another Broomfield Voice survey. The survey will be open from August 12 to August 31, 2022.
