About Renee Sereff
Renee was born Renee Kozisek and was raised on the farm her grandfather purchased in 1905. The family farm was located at what is now the intersection of Main and Midway. She graduated from Broomfield High in 1963, the second graduating class, where she was the second Homecoming Queen. After graduating, she married and moved to Federal Heights. Not long afterward, she moved back to Broomfield to raise her daughter, Wendy, and her son, Gary. Her children also graduated from Broomfield High School and both still live and work in Broomfield. Her three grandsons also graduated from Broomfield High School. Renee, her children, and all three grandsons still live in Broomfield as well as her great-granddaughter.
Renee has been the owner and instructor at Sereff Tae-Kwon-Do for nearly 50 years. She frequently gives scholarships to students who are unable to pay for their classes. She has taught thousands of students of all ages and abilities. Prior to earning their black belt, Renee requires the student to perform community service. Renee and her family volunteer at the Brunner farmhouse. They tend to the Kozisek garden and have for many years. Renee was a member of the first Historic Landmark Board and instrumental in relocating “Shep the Toll House Dog” to the Depot Hill Museum location. Additionally, she established “Dog Days’ as a fundraiser for the museum, and assembled the cookbook that commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Broomfield Depot. She continues historic work at the Lakeview Cemetery to display names of Broomfield pioneers buried there.
Renee and her family are very visible at Broomfield Days activities. They can always be seen at the Pancake Breakfast and along the parade route.
