Code Updates
In order to stay up to date with current building and life safety standards, the Broomfield Building Division will be adopting the 2021 version of the International Building Code (IBC). Broomfield has tentatively scheduled the first reading for the 2021 Code update package for Tuesday February 7th and the second and final reading for Tuesday March 14th. We will have a proposed effective date for any permit issued as of April 15th to meet these updated codes.
A handout outlining the major updates to the code can be found in the document library at the top right-hand side of this webpage.
Staff will be hosting a public meeting on Thursday, August 11 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am in the City Council Chambers to discuss this proposed change. Attendees will be able to ask questions and provide public comment related to the code adoption.
Public comment is also available at the forum at the bottom of this page.
